Before You Innovate: Unique hurdles for women’s health
There are structural challenges in the healthcare system that make innovating in women’s health difficult. But unlike broader societal problems, these structural challenges can be mitigated for innovators who adopt business models and solution sets that overcome the challenges to unlock value and growth in women’s health transformation. After years of working in women’s care, four challenges stand out for me that should not be underestimated when building a women’s health business model.
The fight for women’s health: Are we losing?
Despite the success of Wildflower and that of many other innovative women’s health companies, I can’t help but feel that we aren’t doing enough as an industry to fulfill the promise of healthcare innovation for women. As an industry, we have yet to radically transform the experience, quality and affordability of women’s healthcare. There’s no doubt that working in women’s health requires grit, creative problem solving, and commitment to collaboration. It also requires being clear-eyed about the very real challenges we face. Recognizing our challenges and setbacks isn’t pessimism, it’s just realism.

Wildflower Care Connect launches to improve access, quality and affordability for ancillary maternity services
Wildflower Health announces the launch of Wildflower Care Connect. This first-of-its-kind solution establishes a national network of virtual and in-person ancillary services, including lactation and doula support, strengthening Wildflower’s ability to bridge gaps in maternal health for patients, providers and payers. Wildflower Care Connect launches with a national network of more than 1,000 ancillary providers, including International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), prenatal and postpartum doulas, childbirth educators and registered dietitians.

Wildflower grows its support of patients and OB practices in Nevada with UNLV Health partnership
Wildflower and UNLV Health are partnering to provide patients with a suite of pregnancy and postpartum tools, which integrate into the provider’s current workflows. The goal is to extend support to patients between appointments, while strategically delivering resources patients might need depending on clinical and SDoH risk factors. The collaboration combines a mobile app with personalized health education and clinical support journeys, alongside Health Advocates for monitoring and escalations to the patient’s OB.

Providence Spins Out Praia Health; Wildflower is one of the first organizations to join their Ecosystem Partner program
Praia Health, a newly formed digital health company, today announced the closing of a $20 million oversubscribed Series A financing. The funding will bolster the platform's ability to revolutionize the delivery of individualized health solutions at scale, enabling digitally driven health system transformation. Seventeen digital health partners have joined the Praia Health Ecosystem Partner program, including Wildflower Health.
